Coventry Elementary School Alumni Reunion
With the future of the former Coventry Elementary School uncertain, this may be the last chance for former students, teachers, parents, and staff to visit the building. Join us as we honor its rich history and celebrate the memories it holds during this special event.
Event Details:

2:15 PM: Building Tour led by Krista Hawthorne, former Executive Director of Reaching Heights, current Board President of Coventry P.E.A.C.E., and parent of Coventry alumni
3:00 PM: Lantern-Making Workshops (special table for reunion attendees)
5:00 PM: Lantern Procession down Coventry Road
After the Procession: Drumming, dancing in the street, and an after-party at B Side Lounge with free cookies, cocoa, and Holiday Karaoke (food & cocktails available for purchase)
This reunion is held in conjunction with our annual Lantern Festival, and Coventry Village’s annual WinterFest, a celebration that brings light and joy into the holiday season and lights the way forward for the future. It’s a day filled with fun, creativity, and connection—an opportunity to come together, make new memories, and celebrate the spirit of our community.
We ecourage any former students, parents, teachers, educators and staff to join us, as well as those from Urban Oak School, too. Please help sread the word to those you think would be interested in participating. Click on the button below to RSVP.
Regarding the building’s future: On October 8th, the Cleveland Heights – University Heights Library, the current owner, announced plans to clear the building of its nonprofit tenants and mothball it indefinitely. While the Library has not specified an exact date, the current leases are set to expire on December 31st. It is our hope the building will be spared, but currently its future is uncertain. That’s why we wanted to offer this special opportunity for former students, teachers, parents, and staff to visit and experience the building in all its current glory—just in case this is the last time it will be open to the public.
What is Coventry PEACE Campus?
When the school district sought to divest itself from the former Coventry Elementary School building in 2017, leaving its future uncertain, the leaders of all the tenant organizations and a broad base of community supporters came together in a grassroots movement to propose ways to preserve and grow the thriving arts, culture and education hub that had organically taken root there. From this effort, the Coventry PEACE Campus came into being. The Coventry P.E.A.C.E. building currently houses a dozen local and regional nonprofits. It is our goal to provide an accessible, sustainable, more efficient, and affordable home for these nonprofits, and to attract new organizations to the building.
