The Art of Community fundraiser is a prime example of our mission – it is a way for us to bring together people from all over Greater Cleveland and beyond to “Create, Show, Learn and Grow”, all while helping to establish a permanent, sustainable home for the member nonprofits in the Coventry PEACE Building. While we are still in the planning stages of this event, we already have an exciting evening planned that will activate our space and bring diverse people together from near and far. While access to some of the evening’s events do require a ticket, it was important to us to make sure we could offer activities that were also free of charge and accessible to all. We are working on displaying some outdoor public art, and will be showing a movie in PEACE Park that will be open to everyone. Spark: A Burning Man Story, is a "compelling behind-the-scenes look into the cultural phenomenon of Burning Man". While this documentary has not received a film rating, it is our recommendation that anyone under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult. For more information about this film, please visit their website: sparkpictures.com.We are thrilled to have Michael Mikel as our speaker for the evening! M2 is one of the founders of Burning Man and serves on its Board of Directors. He is both an historian and a futurist with an interest in technology and social communities. He serves Burning Man as Director of Advanced Social Systems and is an Ambassador and speaker for Burning Man. ENSEMBLE THEATRE concludes its 39th season -THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT- with: The winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama: WATER BY THE SPOONFULby Quiara Alegría HudesDirected by Celeste CosentinoApril 26-May 19, 2019.MainStageTheaterSomewhere in Philadelphia, Elliot has returned from Iraq and is struggling to find his place in the world. Somewhere in a chat room, recovering addicts keep each other alive, hour by hour, day by day. The boundaries of family and community are stretched across continents and cyberspace as birth families splinter and online families collide. Water by the Spoonful is a heartfelt meditation on lives on the brink of redemption. "The play is a combination poem, prayer and app on how to cope in an age of uncertainty, speed and chaos. When cyber meets the real world, anger gives way to forgiveness and resistance becomes redemption; the heart of the play opens up and the waters flow freely." -Variety."Most of all, the play... has a warm, welcoming spirit and a life-affirming message. People instinctively take care of each other; hitting bottom is the start of the trip back up." -TimeOur entire 2018|2019 Season will take place in the heart of Coventry Village on the Coventry P.E.A.C.E. Sam has Synesthesia, a condition that allows him to see sounds and hear shapes and colors. The range of colors he uses represent musical harmonies, while the shapes represent rhythms. The visual arrays he creates also inspire the music he composes for piano and other instruments. His favorite composers to illustrate through his “Sound Worlds” include Prokofiev, Debussy, and Bartok. Sam’s current style of pen and ink has evolved significantly and has quickly become his signature style. The drawings merge his musical vision with his clean and precise shapes. Each unique piece incorporates specific music, from current rock and roll to classical orchestral movements. All of Sam’s work is full of texture, rhythm and color. One can nearly hear the music when observing these pieces.Sam is looking forward to expanding his knowledge of new artistic mediums. He does not shy away from working in new ways and combining found objects, paint, marker and more.Cleveland Chamber Symphony at Baldwin Wallace will be performing Sam’s “Jigsaw Rhapsody” (scenes from his ballet) on April 3rd. Small original, custom pieces by Sam start at $150.00 and prints are available for purchase. You can purchase Sam’s cards at Mac's Backs-Books On Coventry Cleveland Heights.... See MoreSee Less
