Homeschool classes will be offered online Tuesdays, January 12 - March 30 at 10:30 - 11:00 ages 6+ & 11:30 - 12:00 teens 12+Classes will be a combination of art appreciation, art activities, and art history. We will spend several weeks practicing how to talk about art, using artwork from many cultures and time periods. I hope to have an art activity for most classes. We will then move into prehistoric and ancient art history. As usual, I will see where the student's interests take us as I go through my planned curriculum. There will be differences in what and how we discuss art between the age groups. I do still plan to ask local artists for interviews in the teen class.I have not taught online before and have taken some teacher training courses to prepare. Since the classes will be short, 40 minutes max, they will only be $60 for 12 weeks with my usual 20% discount for additional siblings. You are welcome to try the first 2 classes to see how your students do with the online format. You can also pay for classes in blocks of 6. Email me if you’d like to discuss other options. If you're wondering about the merits of an art appreciation class, here are a few things I feel to be true. Looking at art is great because everyone's response is individual. We learn how to discern and put our response into words. We learn how to discuss respectfully, listen to others, and recognize that their point of view is as valid as our own. And very importantly, our response to our environment is valid and important. From looking at art we learn to focus, observe, and be aware of the impact images have on us. Art is said to help us understand life and the human spirit. From that, we can gain empathy, respect, connection, self-awareness, and curiosity. To name a few...Let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to share with other homeschoolers I may have missed!... See MoreSee Less
