Celebration of Light

A P.E.A.C.E. Campus Project

Celebration of Light is a collaborative project bringing together the organizations of Coventry PEACE Campus and community members to engage the community in art and writing around the theme of bringing in light and hope as we close out the year.

Starting in early December we will offer ongoing workshops throughout the month via Zoom and videos posted to our website and social media. These workshops will be free, or low-cost* to the community and will culminate in an event happening on New Year’s Eve.

While we are currently planning an in-person final event on the 31st (safely distanced over time & distance), with the ongoing public health crisis, we will be focused on offering our workshops virtually, and will assess how to celebrate safely on New Year’s Eve. We will remain flexible and adjust plans as needed. Please visit our Facebook page, or our join our email list for updated details.

* Small donations for some workshops, but no one will be turned away.

Schedule of Events

We are working on finalizing our workshops, and looking into ways we can celebrate the work you create in these workshops. We will release details here, and on our Facebook event page, as they develop.

FINAL CELEBRATION & LANTERN DISPLAY

Display your lanterns at the PEACE Arch in celebration of the new year, one of which we hope will be filled with light for you and your loved ones.  The PEACE Arch is located at the edge of Coventry PEACE Campus near the intersection of Coventry Rd. and Euclid Heights Blvd.

For over 100 years, the corner of Coventry Road and Euclid Heights Boulevard in Cleveland Heights has served as a diverse educational and gathering spot for our community. We are launching a “$100,000 for 100 years” fundraising campaign to support the Coventry Peace Campus Project to build on this tradition and provide stability for this corner for another 100 years.

Our current tenants’ rent covers the cost of utilities and minor maintenance. Your contributions will allow us to continue to attract creative partner organizations by keeping rents as low as possible and to maintain the building for safety, comfort, and efficiency.

Help us establish the Coventry PEACE Campus as the first arts and education center in Cleveland Heights which is known as the “Home to the Arts.”

What is Coventry PEACE Campus?

When the school district sought to divest itself from the former Coventry Elementary School building in 2017, leaving its future uncertain, the leaders of all the tenant organizations and a broad base of community supporters came together in a grassroots movement to propose ways to preserve and grow the thriving culture and service ecosystem that had organically taken root there. From this effort, the Coventry PEACE Campus came into being. Coventry P.E.A.C.E., Inc. is the non-profit overseeing the maintenance, sustainability, renovation and development of the Coventry PEACE Building, which houses several local nonprofits. It is our goal to provide an accessible, sustainable, more efficient, and affordable home for these nonprofits, and to attract new organizations to the building.
